When each of us contributes and gives back, I believe this world becomes a much better place. I also believe access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, and healthy communities are the foundation of a thriving society.

In January 2014, I lost my nephew Shunsuke after a six months battle with DIPG — Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a terminal brain cancer. He was only 11 years old. No child should have to die from this cruel disease. His passing profoundly affected our entire family, and it stays with us still. In his memory, I made the decision to support cancer research at UCSF, with the hope that fewer families will have to face what ours did.

I hope others will join me in giving back, because together, our collective generosity can create meaningful change.
